Group Meeting Visualizer:
New Commons is looking for visualizers to join our team. A visualizer is someone who supports our facilitators in our highly effective interactional meetings and public engagement process called: Smart Facilitationtm.
Based on the German method Metaplan, we use a two person team to move and capture the conversation of groups, teams, and communities. This method uses pin boards, paper materials, cards, and markers to capture conversation, engage groups in prioritizing their objectives, and in moving ideas around the board. This way we combine the intellectual with the physical so attendees can fully engage. We also use other interactive methods and digital photography to record the conversation.
This work is akin to a traveling theater as we set up and break down all our equipment (boards and writing material) at off-site places where meetings may be held and create scenarios that allow for more interactional learning.
Requirements: Each of our visualizers must be able to write and spell legibly, draw graphics, and listen well, as a basic know how. In addition, a visualizer must be able to:
- Carry at least 40 lbs (we do pack and carry materials)
- Listen to groups and when needed take dictation
- Print legibly or write neatly and the openness to improve
- Drivers license and able to travel
- Flexible schedule
Please take a moment to read our “Conversations that Matter,” especially the section on Smart Facilitation which we sometime call “brown paper and cards” (download for free here
